Stage 1 Blended
The stage 1 blended course will give you a grounding in cycle mechanics. It covers all elements of basic bicycle servicing and repair.
- Bicycle Mechanics - QQI Level 4 City & Guilds Certificate
- Bicycle Engineering Academy Bicycle Mechanic Stage 1 Award
- 3 weeks online (Self guided E-Learning)
- 1 week on site practical training (Venues around the country)
What Will I Learn?
- Professional Mechanics
- Remove and replace cycle wheels
- Remove and replace tyres and inner tubes
- Remove and replace cycle brake systems
- Lubricate and tension a cycle chain
- Remove and replace cycle saddles and seatposts
- Adjust handlebars
- Clean and prepare a cycle for use
- Prepare frames and forks for cycle assembly
- Augment a cycle
- Change a cycle frame
- Repair a cycle puncture
- Remove and replace a cycle brake assembly
- Remove and replace a cycle gear assembly
- Carry out a systematic cycle check
- Remove and replace cycle tubular tyres
- Remove and replace cycle braking systems
- Remove and replace cycle gear systems
- Remove and replace cycle hub bearings
- Remove and replace cycle bottom brackets and cranks
- Build a cycle wheel
- Service cycle headsets assemblies
On completion of the stage 1 blended course:
You can progress to our stage 2 and stage 3 blended courses which covers:
- E-Bike repair
- E-Scooter repair
- Hydraulic braking systems
- Front fork rebuilding
- Rear wheel building
- PDI and workshop management
- Sustainable Transport

Who can apply?
- Anyone who has a valid PPS number and is over the age of 16
Are there any financial supports in place for the students?
- Tuition costs are fully covered by the Education Training Board
- Students currently in receipt of social welfare will not have their payments effected by enrolling in any of our courses
What are the course times/hours?
- Week 1 -3
- Online self guided E-Learning - complete in your own time
- Week 4
- In house practical training
- Monday-Thursday 9am-16:15pm
- Friday 9am-13:15pm
- Total Duration 4 Weeks
What certificates will i gain on successful completion of the course?
- All our qualifications are issued by internationally recognised City & Guilds
- 3902-28 Level 2 In Cycle Mechanics
- Bicycle Engineering Academy Certificate of Completion
What are my progress options after graduation?
- Graduates of the stage 1 blended course can progress to our stage 2 Advanced Bicycle Technician Blended Course
